Saranac Lake Bug Crawl

Saranac Lake Bug Crawl

RIVERSIDE PARK, Saranac Lake, NY12983
The bugs have arrived in Saranac Lake! Don't worry- these bugs don't bite. In fact, they are here to play!

You are invited to participate in the Bug Crawl of Saranac Lake. This educational scavenger hunt brings fun to kids and kids-at-heart as the search begins to locate seven different large bug sculptures around the town—a luna moth, a mayfly, a monarch butterfly, a dragonfly, a honey bee, a lady bug, and a black fly—each created by local artist and teacher, Larry Robjent. All of the sculptures were made from materials donated by the Saranac Lake community.

Robjent has been sculpting metal for over ten years and has pieces on display in Washington, D.C.; Buffalo, NY; Keene, NY; and on the North Country School campus in Lake Placid, where he teaches. He created the lawn serpent on Woodruff Street in Saranac Lake with NCS students. This is Larry’s first Bug Crawl. Follow him on Instagram at @robjentsculptures. The Bug Crawl was a collaboration between volunteers from the village’s Arts and Culture, Downtown, and Parks and Trails advisory boards.

Pick up a brochure with scavenger hunt fun facts and directions at the Saranac Lake Welcome Center in Town Hall or local businesses, and enjoy a walk on the town.
